![]() The cultural project Icario Arte Icario is a young and dynamic company that is establishing itself as one of the most progressive brands of the Italian wine sector. Icario‘s wine is the result of the Cecchetti family’s passion for quality, a concept conceived in a profound and modern way, thus giving the product and its image the same importance. Icario is strongly connected to the territory of Montepulciano (Tuscany) but at the same time is open to those international markets that appreciate Italian quality wine. This mixture is also a prerogative of the best contemporary art that, in this era of globalization, has no other possibility than being at the same time local and international. The rich and international entrepreneurial background of Andrea and Alessandra Cecchetti has made them believe in the possibility of a strong synergy between their two passions, art and wine, that are apparently far away from each other. The new Icario’s cellar has become the physical place of this union. The Icario Arte cultural project was conceived as the result of this building that meets the requirements of functionality and innovation, low impact on the environment and strong architectural image. The building, designed by the prestigious Studio Valle (among their works the enlargement of Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Rome and the new headquarters of the Council of the European Union in Brussels), develops on three levels: a system of flights, stairs, small balconies links the different parts of the complex and scans the vinification’s phases. A crystal and steel staircase leads to the upper floor where the visitor finds himself in a 100 square meter show floor separated from the cellar below just by an unexpected and ethereal glass. The technological solutions adopted results in the establishment of a strong visual relation between the show floor and the spaces designed to accommodate the wine’s production cycle. Six exhibitions have already been scheduled for the period 2008-2010. Every year two exhibitions- one individual and one collective- by leading national and international contemporary artists will be held in Icario’s cellar. |
